The following text is the first four paragraphs of Chapter 5 – Autosuggestion – The Medium for Influencing the Subconscious Mind – from the 21st Century Edition of the classic Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

“Autosuggestion is a term that applies to all suggestions and all self-administered stimuli that reach your mind through the five senses. Stated in another way, autosuggestion is self-suggestion. It is the way of communicating between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and that which serves as the seat of action for the subconscious mind.

Through the dominating thoughts that you permit to remain in your conscious mind [it makes no difference if these thoughts are negative or positive], the principle of autosuggestion reaches the subconscious mind and influences it with these thoughts.

Nature has built human beings so that, through our five senses, we can have control over the material that reaches our subconscious mind. However, [sometimes we may be lazy] in exercising this control. In the great majority of instances we [demonstrate that laziness], which explains why so many people go through life in poverty.

Recall what I said about the subconscious mind resembling a fertile garden, in which weeds will grow if the seeds of more desirable crops are [unattended]. Autosuggestion is the way you may feed yur subconscious on creative thoughts, or you can, by neglecting it, permit thoughts of a destructive nature to find their way into this rich garden of the mind.”

So here is your Remember the Ice Challenge for the next hour.

Determine how you will re-frame your “(K)notty Words” thoughts.

Take the words “don’t” and “can’t” for instance. These two culprits are wicked weeds in your fertile thought garden. When used, you set yourself up to attract the opposite of what you want and/or plant a seed of doubt.

Create a new Autosuggestion of focusing on what you DO want and what you CAN accomplish. Pluck those “(K)notty Weeds” out of your rich garden and start right now to make a change. If even the slightest sprout of a “(K)notty Weed” breaks ground… destroy it!! Restate your intention and follow through.

This is an exercise. You will need to work at it. Have fun with it.

When the first hour is finished, repeat the process for the next hour… and so on.

    Empowering Regards,

    Bob
